Cyanotypes and Lumen Prints Saturday, January 7th 1-5pm.
Lumen Prints and Cyanotypes with Breezy Winters. Learn the process of creating beautiful and unique Lumen prints and cyanotypes through camera-less photography. Discover the magic of chemical reactions using UV light from the sun on light sensitive photographic paper. Learn to mix your own chemicals, paint in the dark, and create exposures in the light. Create timeless images using organic plant and animal materials and investigate the transformation of digital photographs into blue monochromatic prints.
Instructor will provide the following supplies included with lab fee: Black and White Photo paper, contact print glass, organic materials, photo trays, fixer, print wash, Fine Art paper, cyanotype chemicals, transparency film, brushes, and paper towels.
Student must wear protective clothing from exposure to cyanotype chemicals- suggested apron and gloves or work clothing they are not fearful of staining. Student may bring laptop and Adobe Photoshop software, but this is not required. Student may send instructor 3 digital files one week prior to class as alternative to owning computer and software.
